Fault / Error Action
Toner not fixing to paper or smudging.
 Fuser error. Replace fuser unit Order Code: FUSER4500-N (C4198A-N)

Poor feed / paper jams / multi-feeding.

Fit paper feed repair kit. Order Code: FKITLJ4500
Intermittent blank pages. The transfer kit is ‘Shorting out’. Replace the kit.Order Code: C4196A Please note this is a common fault with these printers. Once changed the copy quality will improve.
Jamming from the cassette. This can be caused by the pickup tyre shaft being dislodged. (This is not visible to the eye) Check that the half moon tyre shaft rotates freely.
Jamming after the transfer. Transfer bed not driving. The belts on the lower transport assembly are broken or the gear that drives the belt is broken. Can also be caused by the transfer roller being fitted the wrong way round.
Jamming at delivery. The delivery assembly is worn. Replace the assembly Order Code RG5-5135
Individual toners leaking. The lower seal on the cartridge has failed. Replace the cartridge. See Supplies & Accessorise for you required cartridge colour. Please note the printer will require the leaked toner to be removed from the printer before the printer can be used.
Large blobs of toner on the copies The waste (GROG) tank is full of waste toner. Remove the fuser unit from the back of the printer. Located below the cartridge carousel is a black waste tank. Remove the tank and clean. Once cleaned replace the tank and test the printer.
Gear grinding sounds. The drum drive assembly is prone to premature wear due to a small gear on the end of the drum drive motor. Replace the drive assembly. Order Code: RG5-5206
Clean Density Sensor message on control panel. Clean the toner sensor located in front of the drum draw unit.
Error code 54.2 / 54.X This error code is normally related to a toner cartridge error, often the cartridge is not seated correctly, or the shutter on the cartridge hits the printer frame. Reseat the cartridges.
Error code 54.6 ITB Assembly error. This error is normally caused by dirt or a foreign object in the ITB draw connector. Remove the dirt of object from the connector. If error persists replace ITB Draw Assembly. Order Code: RG5-5120
General Tip To rotate the cartridge carousel, insert a screwdriver or pen into the slot located on the front right hand side of the toner access door aperture. Depress the silver metal lock arm. The carousel will now move freely.
General Tip Drum units are “chipped” and last an average of 25000 pages with 5% coverage.
Factory reset. (Cold Reset) Turn the printer off. Whilst Turning the printer back on, press and hold the Go button until the message Cold Reset is shown on the display.
